Geometric Figures: Polygons

Characteristics of a Polygon It is a closed geometric figure. It has at least 3 line segments that do not cross. None of the sides are curved.

Examples of 4 Sided Polygons: Quadrilateral Rectangle Square Trapezoid Parallelogram Rhombus

A quadrilateral is a polygon with 4 sides.

A rectangle is a quadrilateral with four right angles.

A square is a rectangle with 4 sides of equal length.

A trapezoid is a quadrilateral with exactly one pair of parallel sides.

A parallelogram is a quadrilateral with both pairs of opposite sides parallel.

A rhombus is a quadrilateral with 4 congruent sides.
