TODAY- CH.3 QUESTIONS ARE DUE Quiz today on Chapter’s 1-3

1. EXPLAIN WHY GEORGE AND LENNIE TRAVEL TOGETHER. George knew Lennie from childhood and promised Lennie’s Aunt Clara that he would look after Lennie after she passed away.

2. WHAT DID GEORGE DO ONCE THAT MADE HIM STOP PLAYING JOKES ON LENNIE? He told Lennie to jump into a lake knowing that Lennie could not swim and Lennie almost drowned.

3. DISCUSS THE SNEAKY THING THAT LENNIE TRIES TO DO. Lennie tries to sneak his new pup into the bunkhouse even though George said he was not allowed to bring it in.

4. WHY DOES CARLSON THINK IT IS A GOOD IDEA TO SHOOT CANDY’S DOG? WHY DOES CANDY DISAGREE WITH THIS IDEA? He thinks the dog smells bad, says it has no teeth, can barely walk, and is no good to itself or anyone else. He loves the dog and has had it so long.

5. HOW ARE CANDY AND HIS DOG SIMILAR? They are both older, disabled, and can be seen by some as useless

6. WHY DOES CURLEY’S WIFE SPEND SO MUCH TIME AROUND THE MEN? WHAT IS SHE LOOKING FOR? She is lonely and wants to have a conversation with someone– she always claims to be looking for Curley but is really looking for attention.

7. YOU HAVE ALREADY DISCUSSED THE SIMILARITIES BETWEEN CANDY AND HIS DOG, NOW CANDY SEES THE SIMILARITIES FOR HIMSELF AND WANTS TO JOIN GEORGE AND LENNIE ON THEIR POTENTIAL LAND. WHY DOES CANDY WANT TO JOIN GEORGE AND LENNIE (WHO HE JUST MET) SO BADLY? He wants something of his own– he doesn’t want to be viewed as useless and be treated like his dog was.

8. DISCUSS THE INCIDENT BETWEEN LENNIE AND CURLEY. Lennie innocently laughed out loud about his own thoughts– Curley thought Lennie was laughing at him and begin to hit him– George gave Lennie permission to protect himself against Curley and wound up crushing Curley’s whole hand.
