7. Describe the stable buck. The stable buck is a black man, hunched over with a crooked back. He’s smart (he reads books), and he’s strong—He is abused by the boss whenever he is mad (because he is black).

8. Why is Lennie’s last name ironic? His last name is SMALL– he is anything but small.

9. What does the boss think George is doing to Lennie? The boss suspects George of taking Lennie’s money

10. Describe Curley. Curley is the boss’s son. He is confrontational, mean, and aggressive. He tries to compensate for his small size by picking fights with larger men.

11. Describe Curley’s wife. Curley’s wife is an attractive woman. She has “the eye,” which means that she’s a flirt.

12. Describe Slim. Slim is the “skinner” which means he drives the horse/mule teams in the field. He’s tall, skinny, and everyone listens and obeys him.
