9. Use your brain 12.What is one theme from Of Mice and Men? Remember, a theme is the main idea or message. What is it that John Steinbeck wanted us to learn from the story? Don’t forget, a theme is a statement, not just one word. “Love” is not a theme. Neither is “Friendship” “Don’t trust pretty girls with mean husbands” isn’t a very good theme either.
