Project Log

Initial Plan

11/09/12 In todays lesson I started my initial plan. I set out the structure, checking I had included all the columns and necessary information so I could achieve the best possible mark. I also started filling out the different tasks and sub tasks which means I have a structured plan, which will keep me organised during my project. Next lesson I will finish completing the sub tasks, using the DiDA website as my guide.

In todays lesson I carried on filling out all the sub tasks in my initial plan. This means I have an outline of the work I have to do to complete the project. Next lesson I will start completing the dates, and estimating how long it will take me to finish each individual task.

Database

In todays lesson I started building my database. Firstly, I entered the field names, changed the data type, and added a description for each field according to the data items list. I then imported my data. Next lesson I will concentrate on building my data entry form, adding buttons and other options to make it appealing and user friendly.

In todays lesson I started creating and editing my Data Entry Form. Next lesson I will continue editing this, as well as finding 3 new species of animal to add to the database. This will require researching them, and testing my Data Entry Form.

In todays lesson I completed my data entry form, and began using it to add new animals into my database. I chose three endangered animals, researched them, and added them to the database.

In today’s lesson I finished entering the three new animals in the data entry form, updating my research and completing my evidence. I also spent the time updating my sources table and organising it. In next weeks lesson I will start my spreadsheet.

In todays lesson I began working on my spread sheet – entering the field names etc. I also started updating my database evidence power point, which provides explanations for each step taken. In my next lesson I will continue working on my spreadsheet.

25/10/12 In today’s lesson I completed my validation rules, texts, and changed all of the field sizes. Next lesson I will find new animals to enter into my database, and create a data entry form.

12/11/12 In today’s lesson I created a data entry form, and researched three new animals to add to my database. Next lesson I will begin my membership fees spreadsheet.

Spreadsheet

In today’s lesson I started building my spread sheet to display my membership fees. I started by using different formulas to calculate values such as the total incomes in each month. In my next lesson I will start the Outgoings section.

In todays lesson I completed the ‘outgoings’ part of my spread sheet, however I still have to get the Total Cash Flow to lower than £100, in order to make my membership fees realistic and not make too much profit. (This is a charitable organisation.) I will complete this at home so I can start my Sample Reports next lesson.

Reports

I completed my membership fees spreadsheet at home, and in today’s lesson I started my reports. I have made 2 reports and queries so far – ‘fish at risk of being hunted’ and ‘critically endangered birds/insects’ and have started logging my evidence and feedback in a powerpoint. Next lesson I will complete my reports.

In today’s lesson I completed my reports. I made a final one – ‘endangered mammals located in Africa.’ I also collected test buddy feedback for my final drafts to ensure I had made them to the best of my ability.

Membership Card

In today’s lesson I started my membership card. I collected research and did my first and second draft. To do this I looked at the specification on the DiDA website and tried to ensure I included everything that was needed. I also collected feedback from my test buddy.

In todays lesson I completed the final draft of my membership card, and collected feedback. I printed them off and will take pictures at home to show they print well. Next lesson I will start my leaflet.

Leaflet

In todays lesson I started my leaflet. I collected research, which gave me a good idea of what my leaflet should look like and include. I also made a first draft on paper and collected feedback from my test buddy. This will help me as I do my second draft, as I now have a good idea of how my leaflet will be structured.

In today’s lesson I completed the second draft of my leaflet. I collected feedback from my test buddy, and I will use this feedback to make improvements in my third draft.

In today’s lesson I improved on my second draft using the feedback collected last lesson, and completed the final draft of my draft. I also collected third draft feedback from my test buddy. At home I will print off my leaflet and take a picture of it, showing what it will look like when it is printed.

Pack Folder

In todays lesson I started my pack folder. I did a first and second draft on paper and Word, and collected feedback from my test buddy. To ensure I keep up with my ongoing plan I will complete this at home, and begin my presentation at home.

Presentation

This lesson I started my presentation. This involved looking at the DiDA website, and finding all the information needed about the WildCare trust e.g. its main aims. I created a first draft on Powerpoint, and collected feedback from my test buddy. Next lesson I will improve on this feedback and create a final draft.

Review

21/02/13 Over the half term, I started my review and put the finishing touches to it during the lesson. I have also spent some time updating my ongoing plan, and checking all the files were in the correct place to begin my E-Portfolio.
