NASA Quality Leadership Forum: Supply Chain Management Case Study Ken Ortiz/Alphaport, Inc. net-inspect ™

net-inspect ™ Global Technology  net-inspect ™ collects inspection data and makes it immediately available to customers worldwide, via the internet.  net-inspect ™ collects and analyzes information using a standard rating system.  net-inspect ™ allows customer’s to rank and compare their suppliers and consistently monitor improvements.  net-inspect ™ manufacturing issues are tracked as well, so problem areas are easier to spot and are corrected quickly.

net-inspect ™ Supply Chain Original Equipment Manufacturer (O.E.M) 1st TIER SUPPLIERS 2nd TIER SUPPLIERS

net-inspect ™ The Process:  Boeing requests a completed assembly from ASCO Industries, Zaventem, Belgium.  The assembly is electronically disassembled and approved prior to delivery.  Boeing representatives review the data within net-inspect ™ to verify all processes involved with creating this assembly, drilling down multiple tiers, if necessary.  Verification is done, via the internet, by delegated source authority and eliminating the need for receiving inspection.

net-inspect ™ Assembly Breakdown  ASCO Industries requests bearings from Rose Bearings Inc., Lincoln, England, to be assembled into the final product for Boeing.  ASCO views all data within Rose Bearing’s net-inspect ™ system, again allowing delegated source authority and eliminating receiving inspection.  The bearings are received from the bearings supplier and delivered directly to the ASCO assembly line.

net-inspect ™ Assembly Breakdown  Rose Bearings inputs specific part measurements, using SPC sampling.  Real- time measurement data is available to customer quality and internally.

net-inspect ™ Assembly Breakdown  After reviewing data from Rose Bearings, the part then reaches the assembly line at ASCO to be installed on the Boeing assembly.  Detail parts measurements are available directly to the ultimate customer.

net-inspect ™ Assembly Approval  Boeing has reviewed the feature measurements and can approve the certifications, first article, and the applicable documents.

net-inspect ™ Supply Chain Summary  Companies require suppliers:  manufacture quality products  real-time manufacturing data.  To meet these needs net-inspect ™ allows the customer to:  Drill down to the specific sub assemblies and details without disassembling the product for verification  View real-time data on the assembly and its components during the manufacturing process  Eliminate receiving inspection.
