SA8 KEY LEADERS IN THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR Sean Buswell

Thomas Paine Thomas Paine was a brilliant scholar, political activist, author, and revolutionary. Paine inspired people through his writing. His most famous one is “common sense”, if it wasn’t written we probably wouldn’t have won the war. Common Sense inspired George Washington to fight, along with several thousand Americans. He wrote other books that told only one side of the argument between Great Britain and the Colonies. He put in his writing what the colonists wanted to see.

Patrick Henry Patrick Henry was an attorney, planter and politician. When people hear the word Patrick Henry they think of his “Give me liberty or give me death” speech. Patrick Henry worked in several ways supporting the rebellion. Before he joined he worked as a tax collector, But he wasn’t honest with collecting the money and more than half was missing. He helped by participating in the Sons Of Liberty.

Samuel Adams Samuel Adams fought against every tax that was brought up, he talked colonists into boycotting certain merchandise that was under the taxes. Samuel Adams started the Sons of Liberty, an organization which was vandalizing British ships, supply buildings, and harming tax collectors. Scholars of the 20 th century believe Samuel Adams to be the master of propaganda, due to bringing up an organization that threw the Boston Tea Party.

Thomas Jefferson Thomas Jefferson is known for writing the Declaration Of Independence. He also a minister to France, and member to the Continental Congress. He played a major role in planning, designing the constriction of a capitol and federal district.

John Adams John Adams was a very educated man, he went to Harvard University, a very respected college. John Adams was also a respected lawyer. After the “Boston Massacre” he went and defended the British soldier and won in the court. He also helped write the peace treaty between Great Britan and the Americas.
