A LBEMARLE C OUNTY C OMPREHENSIVE P LAN The Comprehensive (Comp.) Plan is a guide for development. The Capital Improvement Program (CIP) is a tool to implement the Comp. Plan. The CIP review process includes evaluating projects for compliance with the Comp. Plan. The Comp. Plan is being updated at this time The updating process includes Planning Commission review and Board of Supervisors approval.

C OMMUNITY F ACILITIES P LAN S CHOOL F ACILITIES S ECTION The Community Facilities Plan, within the Comprehensive Plan, addresses public facilities generally and in specific sections. The School Facilities Section, of the Community Facilities Plan, has been reviewed and updated by Building Services & Community Development Staff.

S CHOOL F ACILITIES S ECTION Key Changes: Increase land area for school sites Elementary: from 12 acres to acres (Neighborhood or Community Park) Middle: from 25 – 30 acres to acres (includes Community Park) High Schools: from 45 acres to 65 – 80 acres (includes Community Park)

S CHOOL F ACILITIES S ECTION Key Changes: Building Capacity: Revise rated capacities to be a Range Elementary: from maximum of 600 to between 400 and 750 students for new schools Middle: from maximum of 900 to between 600 and 1,000 students for new schools High Schools: from 1500 to between 900 and 1,500 students for new schools

S CHOOL F ACILITIES S ECTION Key Changes: Revise/add various clarifications and definitions : Walkability (pathway to entry) Site elements such as bus parking (arrangement on site) Usable area for a site (excludes areas not used for educational & recreational activities) Relocate guidelines of park facilities to the Parks Section Format of the Document has changed
