Mindy Doyle Biology Major-Health Science Concentration Tennessee Technological University, Cookeville, TN.

Health Science Concentration My name is Mindy Doyle, and I am a Biology Major with a Health Science Concentration. Throughout high school, I was enrolled as a dual pathway student. I had to complete all of the requirements of the university and technical paths. I graduated with honors, having completed three terms of a foreign language and three terms of health science classes. During my first health science class, I realized I wanted a career in the medical field. My sophomore year I became a member of HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America). This club allowed me to get an in depth view of the world of medical professionals. The following year I was elected Vice President. Being a part of many different activities, some of which I organized myself, was a challenging responsibility. My senior year in high school, I became President. This was most rewarding. I competed at the TN State HOSA competition, and placed third in the Nutrition and Health division. I love to learn about the human body and how it works. All sciences are so interesting to me. I never actually enjoyed any of my English or History classes. Although I am not completely sure of my career choice, I hope to become a forensic pathologist. As the Activities Director for the Sheriff’s Dept. Explorer club, I have arranged a visit to Bill Bass’ “Body Farm.” This will help me discover if I am pursuing the best job for myself. I know that the Health Science Concentration is perfect for me because it will focus on my specific interests. I intend to keep an open mind about the future and the opportunities it will bring.

Biology Dept. Clubs and Organizations While I am studying the field of biology, I could further my education with extracurricular activities related to my specific needs as a student. These clubs are an interesting way to have fun and learn about a variety of career choices. I would consider becoming a member of the TTU Chapter of TriBeta Biology Honor Society and the Upper Cumberland Conservation Society. I love the outdoors and these clubs offer many activities and possibly may help in the decision of my career path.
