The Boy on the Moon by: Matthew Manos

I watched my dad as he took off to space. I sat and wondered if I could go to the moon. My name is Scott. This is a story of a kid wanting to go to the moon.

I’ve tried to make my own spaceship. I used card board, tape, chewing gum and firecrackers, but nothing worked out.

Once I tried you make a sling shot with a lot of rubber bands between the two tall trees in my yard. It broke and I got a boo boo. OUCH!

OUCH!!

Well although plans fail, I'm going to keep trying. One day I'm going to be on the moon.

I’ve counted the days until my dad comes back. I miss him sometimes. I look up at the stars wondering if he looks back down at me.

It’s been two years since I have seen my dad. In five days, he comes back from space. I can’t wait to hear about his trip!

So today is finally the day my dad comes back from the moon! I'm so excited to see him. My dad is my hero and I want to be like him someday.

YAY!

My dad landed back on earth. As he stepped out of the spaceship I gave him a big hug.

Later that day we had a big dinner for everyone and their families who went to space. That night, my dad told me stories of his time in space, and he gave me a moon rock.

One day I hope to be just like him. Years later, I did I grow up and became an astronaut and finally went to space.
