All: - Will be able to describe the daily life of an Aztec - Describe the lives of children - Name some jobs the people did Some: - Create links between Rome, Egypt and the Aztecs

1) Where are the Aztecs from? 2) What is the name of the Lake their capital city is on? 3) What did the Aztecs call themselves? 4) How many years ago did the Aztecs live?

 The children were expected to go to work at age 6!!!  Parents would teach their children skills  The boys would gather maize and beans  They would pick them up from the traders that dropped them  The girls made cloth

 Many of the doings were based on religious beliefs  Each law was made based on their religion  Life for people started with marriage…

Task 1 - What do you think a marriage ceremony would look like? - You can use pictures to help you answer - You must include: -Who attends -What the celebration is -At least 6 lines

 Usually men married in their 20’s  Women were usually in their mid teens (14 – 19)  They were arranged marriage  The parents would discuss with religious leaders to see if the children would be a good fit

1) In Aztec society, what can a man have? 2) What was the husband supposed to do? 3) How would you describe a family? 4) If you had many children, would you be rich or poor? 5) Who dominated society? 6) Who was the head of the home? 7) Where could the women run their business? 8) What did the older women do?

 Marriage was very important  Once married you were then given some land and a home  Both the man and the woman would work on the land  Later, the man would likely become a warrior  But there were other jobs

 Name 5 jobs you think is needed in society  Farmer, priest, doctor, fisherman, builder, carpenter and many more  but being a warrior was certainly the best

 Name 3 subjects you think the Aztecs may have done in school  What might a father teacher a son?  What would a mother teacher their daughter?  Usually the educating was from the parents  Father would teach their sons  Mothers would teach their daughters

1) What age did people start work? 2) What were the rules on marriage? 3) What happened after a family got married? 4) How were the children educated? Each sentence must be at least 7 words.
