Muir School A Kindergarten to Grade 12 Magnet School in San Diego Unified School District, California, USA Virtual Welcome Pack 2009 Photographed and Written by Muir Students

San Diego: Biotech Industry Hub

San Diego: Tourist Destination

Students come to magnet schools on the bus from all parts of the city.

Magnet School Why are magnet schools important? Magnet schools are important because they offer so many different opportunities. The great thing about them is that all magnet schools have a different theme that they focus their school on. Why are magnet schools considered to give more opportunities, what do they have to offer? Magnet schools like ours, are usually smaller than some traditional schools, that allows students learn in a closer family-like environment where not only, everyone knows each other but they have a better opportunity of learning because there are fewer students. That usually allows a closer, more “intimate” level of education.

Paideia School: Seminars and Projects Q. What is a Paideia Seminar? "A Paideia Seminar is an opportunity for students to study a piece of text and to make meaning of it. The text could be a book, a poem, could be a piece of artwork, could be a power point, could be a statue. But it's something that has some mystery to it and will cause people to think, and to share their ideas." Interview with the Principal :

Life Stroll by R, Gr. 8 This fork in the road Which direction do I go To the right Or to the left Won’t someone stroll with me Give me the answers Show me which way to go Fear of making a mistake Hearts telling me one way Minds telling me the opposite Walk with me No one to talk to But myself Tricking my own mind This image is breathing-taking The streets look the same No clues as to which to take Could be an illusion Assuming one route’s cluttered And the other streamlined Combine the two Come back to reality Continue going straight No decisions to make Nothing to think about Taking life As it comes
