Why do you need to go to school? To find out new and exciting things To become clever To get a good job To see your friends It’s fun The law says you have to

What does 100% attendance mean? 100% attendance is when you go to school every day. 90% attendance is when you miss a few days at school. 80% attendance is when you miss more school days than you should

Do you know what good attendance is? This is Simon. He is in Year 6 and has 90% attendance. Is that good? What does this mean?

90% attendance is… Half a day missed every week! Nearly four whole weeks of lessons missed in a school year! Half a school year missed over five years!

What happens if you don’t go to school? You could miss out on fun activities You won’t learn as much You won’t see your friends as often You could be bored at home Your parents could get into trouble You are less likely to get a good job

If you are worried or sad about going to school what should you do? Talk to your friends Talk to your mum or dad Talk to a teacher Talk to an adult at school They can listen to you and help you

Keep your attendance above 95% and you’ll be the best that you can be!
