Presentation transcript:

* Prayer is an “awareness” of God and a response to the presence of the sacred in our lives; it is talking to God and listening to His voice.

* 1. In ourselves: We are created in God’s image to represent Him on Earth.

* 2. In others: St. John says: “Those who say “I love God” but hate their brothers and sisters are liars; for those who do not love a brother or sister whom they have seen, cannot love God who they have not seen.” * It is easy to see God in some but how about the poor?

* 3. Encountering God in Creation: God is the Creator who gives and sustains life. * In what ways do we encounter God in creation? * In what ways do we dishonour God’s presence in creation?

* A petition is asking for God’s help.

* Thanks and praise is when we give God a joyful heart and thank Him for all He has done.

* Journal writing is a way to have a private conversation with God.

* Medidation is when we dwell on the mystery of God and when we sit in silence.

* The bible is used for prayer when we read and reflect on what is said.

* This type of prayer binds us together with God. * “Where two or three of you are gathered in my name, there I am with them.” * -Matthew 18:20

* The Eucharist is where we celebrate the greatest gift of receiving Jesus.

* These prayers are what has been traditionally passed down the Church over the years. They may include the Lord’s Prayer (Our Father), the Hail Mary, and more.
