HRM Definition That function performed in organisations that facilitates the most effective use of people (employees) to achieve organisational and individual goals.

HRM ACTIVITIES 1 Job analysis—Determining the specific duties and nature of each job in the organisation. Human resource planning—Projecting future employee staffing and promotion needs Employment recruitment, selection, motivation and orientation.

WHY HRM? People limit or enhance the strengths and weaknesses of the organisation HRM represents the human assets of the company.

Objectives HRM Function 1: Helping the organisation reach its goals Using the skills and activities of the work force Providing the organisation with well—trained and well—motivated employees Increasing to the fullest the employee’s job satisfaction and self-actualisation

HRM -Place in Management. Clarifying meaningful HRM objectives. Objectives of an organisation or department are the ends it seeks to achieve. HR must develop specific statements of how its various functions will be accomplished. (Example: How to increase employees’ job satisfaction.)

HRM Strategy HRM has a responsibility to be a proactive, integral component of management and the strategic planning process. HRM strategy is the pattern or plan that integrates the major objectives, policies and procedures of the organisation into a cohesive whole. A well—formulated HRM strategy helps aggregate and allocate a firm’s resources in light of the firm’s strengths and weaknesses, changes in the environment, and actions of competitors.
