 Explain what you think causes WIND.

 Caused by a difference in AIR PRESSURE

 Horizontal movement of air from an area of High Pressure to an area of Low Pressure

 Measured with an Anemometer

 Blow over short distances  Form only when no other winds are blowing from farther away.  Caused by unequal heating of Earth’s surface.

 Winds are named by where they come FROM

 Seasonal Land and Sea Breezes which occur annually

250 cm = 98 in PA = 41 per year, about 3 per month

 Caused by the movement of air from the poles to the equator

 Near the Equator  Warm air is rising, so there is little or no wind

 Winds curve because of the spinning of the earth
