Sample Controlling Ideas In the two poems, “I,too” and “America,” the speakers express their difficulties and abusive perceptions of America, but both mention that they still love this country because its hate gives them strength after all the challenges. In the two poems, “I, too” and “America,” the speakers express the feeling of discrimination and from that discrimination the two speakers become more strong. Competitiveness is the desire of wanting more, is the force that drives us to overcome obstacles.
