INTRODUCTION On behalf of Ndejje School community, I take this opportunity to welcome you to our A.G.M for the year, Praise be to our God from whom all blessings, riches and fruitfulness flow! We warmly welcome members of this association who are attending for the very first time and these include new teachers, new parents of senior one and senior five students. Our sympathies and prayers go to those who have been bereaved during this past year. In a special way, we would like to remember the late Captain Daniel Musinguzi who was our PTA vice- chairman, BOG member and Pilot to H.E the President of Uganda. We commend his and the families of all the departed to the almighty God.

We believe that the aim and benefits of proper education is not restricted to only personal gains such as being successful in personal and professional life, instead it benefits even other people of the family, society and Country. We therefore thank you dear parents and teachers for supporting our children to get a good education and to be good citizens. This meeting (the A.G.M) provides the opportunity for Association Members, PTA Executive and School Management, to interact and to critically reflect on the School’s performance in the past year, discuss our strategy going forward and improve action.

GREETINGS FROM THE BISHOP Rev. Canon Eridard Nsubuga was consecrated Bishop and Enthroned as the 3 rd Bishop for Luwero Diocese on 17 th May, I had a meeting with him, he knows about this meeting and he sends his greetings that Ndejje should continue rising and shining in Luwero and win the pride of Uganda! Please receive the greetings from the Bishop our Patron. With gratitude we remember the retired Bishop Evans Mukasa Kisekka who was our patron for 18 years and we are so thankful for the Spiritual nurturing and he rendered to this School

THEME FOR THE YEAR Our theme emphasizes team work and the recognition of God in all our endeavors. I now ask Rev. Can. Muwanguzi the Chaplain and a Deputy H/M to give us a three (3) minute exposition on the theme

PTA EXECUTIVE ACTIVITIES Our work is derived from our Ndejje S.S.S PTA constitution whose aims and objectives are as follows:- a) To promote the education of the pupils and the general welfare of the school. b) To promote and improve the welfare of the members of staff of the school. c) To provide opportunities and avenues for co- operation between parents and the teaching staff.

e)To establish and promote unity, cooperation and understanding among the parents, staff, non-teaching staff and the pupils of the school. d) To assist the teaching staff of the school to open up opportunities for the pupils in order to effectively prepare and equip the pupils for a bright and constructive future.

i)To work tirelessly and relentlessly to eradicate tribal, religious, political, sexual and other sectional barriers of discrimination. j) To do any and all other things as may, in the opinion of the Executive Committees’ or the General Meeting, be conducive and necessary for the attainment of any or all of the above objectives

Dear members, allow me to introduce the members of the PTA executive committee who you elected on 4 th October, 2014 NAMEDESIGNATIONCONTACT 1Dr. Jackson F MubiruChairman Mr. Amos KalemaTreasurer Dr. Timothy MutesasiraMember Mrs. Hellen TwongyeirweMember Mrs. Edith OkumuMember Mrs. Jackline Mirembe LubegaMember Dr. Paddy MusanaMember Dr. Charles KahigirizaHeadteacher/Secretary Mr. Jonah Jackson BakalikwiraMember Ms. Felicitas KasumbaTeachers’ Representative Mr. Medi SsesangaTeachers’ Representative Mr. Fredrick BitamaraTeachers’ Representative

These members have graciously volunteered their time, energy, expertise and knowledge to attend the many committee and sub-committee meetings and events. They have as individuals and collectively been passionate in fostering the good of our school and have been instrumental in ensuring its holistic growth. So on your behalf, I wish to sincerely thank the executive for their immense input. During the PTA executive meeting of 7 th November 2014, it was recommended that we co-opt Dr. Timothy Mutesasira on the executive to offer his support, expertise and skills towards the projects that were in progress. Allow me to thank him for his priceless and immense contribution towards the development of the school.

THE SCHOOL MANAGEMENT It is my pleasure to thank the Headmaster (and his deputies), top management team and all staff for all the dedication, commitment and engagement that have kept the school on the path to development. We have witnessed spiritual, academic and physical growth of our school. During the past year, the Headmaster, Dr. C. Kahigiriza has assembled and maintained a management team that is not only able to deliver excellent performance, but who have a considerable potential for the future. Some of whom have the potential to lead this school in times to come. Many members of staff have had opportunity to travel in- country, within the region and overseas in pursuit of knowledge, learning and exposure to ensure effective, efficient and timely delivery of quality education of our school.

THE PARENTS Thank you for teaching our children many things at home and you send them here at school for more growth, development and instruction. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you, dear ones for being:- a. Parents vs. those who fathered or are mothers b. Present vs. absence c. Presents vs. no rewards/ no gifts d. Persevere vs. giving up e. Prayerful vs. fate seekers f. Paying dues vs. habitual defaulters g. Prepare our children for the future vs. preparing a future for the children

In supporting our children to get a good education, and we all know that the first purpose of getting good education is being good citizens and then being successful in personal and professional life. “In such a competitive world, education has become a necessity for human beings after food, clothe and shelter. It is able to provide possible solutions to the majority of problems; it promotes good habits and awareness about corruption, terrorism, and other social issues among us”. The shortest article in the Uganda Constitution, 1995 states “All persons have a right to education”. Thank you Ladies and Gentlemen for your individual and collective contributions

THE STUDENTS During this meeting, we shall recognize the students in appendix 1A for their contribution to the betterment of the school education and learning environment. They offered themselves for elections into the students’ prefects’ body and we would like to thank their parents and guardians for all the encouragement and support. These students work so hard and require all our support for them to excel in both their academics and school administration and I thank them very much for their dedication. So on behalf of the PTA Executive I would like to express our gratitude to all MEMBERS of this Association for your dedication and enthusiastic support to our cause.

SCHOOL PROJECTS The current PTA Executive inherited proposals as found in the PTA Chairman’s report of 4 th October i. Completion of the new classroom /laboratory block ii. Completion of dining hall extension iii. Furnishing the chapel iv. Furnishing the Girls’ study room v. Installing property shelves in the dormitories vi. Sick-bay extension or construction vii. Construction of more staff houses

In My acceptance speech and on behalf of the new executive, I accepted to work towards the realization of these proposals. We have detailed reports on each one of the above items when the Headmaster comes to give the School report. However, it suffices for me to say that we have kept the “pedal down on the gas” to keep on track amidst a number of challenges as shall be enumerated for your consideration and advice.

Those of you who have taken the tour around the school you have seen the changes and new developments as shown on the screen. The super structure for (i) above is about to be completed in record time and (ii) was achieved. During this past year, we had to ensure that loans acquired for the girls’ dormitory (Prof. Mwaka building) and the Scania School-bus are serviced. This is a lot of money as the Headmaster shall inform us which led the school to consider consolidation of effort to loan repayment, project (i) and project (ii) above. The coming year will then be for the rest of the issues above.

Given the immense contribution to the development, love and dedicated service to the school for over 15 years, I propose that we name one laboratory on the classroom block after Capt. Daniel Musinguzi

In order to achieve the school objectives, the association depends on funds from the following sources; i) Membership fees ii) Annual subscriptions iii) Contributions and donations iv) Loans v) Interest on investment and, vi) Sales and /or proceeds from sales or bids by the Executive Committee. I would like to remind you members that we are expected to donate to the association and I call upon all those who would like to donate for the betterment of our school to do so starting today. I wish you fruitful deliberations.
