Staff and Governors at the school are writing our Anti-Bullying Policy. And we need your help. We need to know your thoughts and ideas on how we can ALL contribute to everybody feeling safe and confident in and around the school. So, we asked Buxton Voices some questions and this is what they told us……

Buxton School Anti-Bullying Policy - Consultation What is Bullying? Being rude to people and not caring More than one person that keeps hurting people Causing people constant pain You do something constantly and when you are being mean over and over again Being mean to others Bullying is repetitive action Hurting emotionally and physically When someone constantly repeats acts of nastiness that offends a person Hurting someone’s feelings deliberately

Buxton School Anti-Bullying Policy - Consultation What are the different types of Bullying? Emotional Homophobic Physical Cyber Rumours/Gossip Sexism Racism Peer pressure Transgender Verbal Violent

Buxton School Anti-Bullying Policy - Consultation Paranoia Fear Depression Suicidal thoughts Anger Disappointment Emotionally scarred Sadness Low self esteem Isolation Bullying = bullying No confidence What are the effects of bullying?

Buxton School Anti-Bullying Policy - Consultation Address the bully and negotiate Tell their parents Give them longer detentions Make them do community service Ban the bully from activities (clubs/ACE week) Call the police Exclude the bullies Talk to students separately Hear both sides Talk about consequences Keep a close eye on students What do you think staff should do?

Buxton School Anti-Bullying Policy - Consultation Make a group where students can talk about their problems Prefects to monitor the playground Try to intervene and help Sticking up for the right side Encourage your friend, help them feel safe Tell staff Tell prefect What can students do to help?

Buxton School Anti-Bullying Policy - Consultation What should our Anti Bullying School slogan be? Be Brave, Beat the Bully Speak out Stand out Be Proud Stop being a fiend. Be a friend Kindness for the future. Bullying for the past Being quiet isn’t good Stop the silence. Speak Out

We will also let you know the winners of the Slogan competition We will now look at all your ideas and discuss them with the school Governors. We will let you know what ideas make into the Anti Bullying policy
