To Kill A Mockingbird Literary Analysis Explanation

The Prompt Prompt: Throughout To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee exposes several occurrences of different kinds of prejudice. In a well-developed essay, provide evidence to support this statement. Remember to include specific details and examples from the novel in your essay. As you write, remember your essay will be scored based on how well you: ● Develop a multi-paragraph response to the assigned topic that clearly communicates your thesis to the audience. ● Support your thesis with meaningful examples and references from the text, carefully citing any direct quotes. ● Organize your essay in a clear and logical manner, including an introduction, body, and conclusion. ● Use well-structured sentences and language that is appropriate for your audience. ● Edit your work to conform to the conventions of standard American English.

Step One Define prejudice: any preconceived opinion about someone or something that is NOT based on reason, facts or actual experiences.

Step Two Decide which TYPES of prejudice exist in the book. I am sure we can all think of racism as a type of prejudice, but are there others types of prejudice against other types of people? You will 2+ types of prejudice with examples for each. 3 types would be ideal.

Step Three Look for quotations to support your types of prejudice. Examples, paraphrases. Scour your books! Don’t forget to jot down the page number when you find a good quotation.
