Rafsanjani lost the 2005 election to Mahmud Ahmadi- Nejad, who is right wing Once in power human rights violations increased Tight grip on dissident groups and women’s clothing The economy has improved  Unemployment and inflation have gone gown But he is running the highest deficit since the revolution
