Plant Parts: What do different plant parts do? Roots Roots act like straws absorbing water and minerals from the soil. They make seeds so we can grow new plants. Stem Stems do many things. They support the plant. They keep the plant in the soil. It also collects moisture from the soil. Leaf Most plants' food is made in their leaves. It carries moisture and food to all parts of the plant. Flower This part makes food for the plant from the sun's rays and carbon dioxide.

Life Cycle of a Plant First the seed is planted. Next the seed is cared for with water and sunlight. Last the seed becomes a healthy plant.
