SCIENTIFIC NAME  Panthera pardus orientalis

HABITAT  rare subspecies in the Russian Far East has adapted to life in the temperate forests.  Temperate, Broadleaf, and Mixed Forests  harsh winter climate of the Russian Amur-Ussuri boreal forests

DIET  In the wild: Roe deer, wild boar, hare, sika deer and occasionally domestic livestock  At the zoo: A special feline diet daily along with knucklebones.

WEIGHT, SPEED, & LEAP  pounds  Run at speeds of up to 37 miles per hour  Leap more than 19 feet horizontally and 10 feet vertically

SOLITARY  Solitary  Nimble-footed and strong  Live for years

MATING  Some males stay with females after  Males may help with rearing the young  Several males fight over the females

REPRODUCE  Two to three years old  Breed January or February  Up to 6 cubs
