What is the Dewey Decimal System The DDS is used to classify books in a media center. There are 10 main classifications. Each book has a number listed on the spine of the book that tells where the books should be organized in the media center. Classifying books using the DDS allows books to be found easily. This system is used all over the world. Pass out books to students and let them see where this number is located.
