The Day… Each Opening minds class will be given a country to represent on the day. These countries have been chosen because they were the last 9 countries to host the Olympics. We are going to have an opening ceremony where your class will have made flags on a procession.

Countries Munich, Germany Montreal, Canada Moscow, Russia Los Angeles, United States Seoul, South Korea Barcelona, Spain Sydney, Australia Athens, Greece Beijing, China

Olympic values Respect- Fair play; knowing one’s own limits; and taking care of one’s health and the environment Excellence- How to give the best of oneself, on the field of play or in life; taking part; and progressing according to one’s own objectives Friendship- how, through sport, to understand each other despite any differences Courage- Being brave and confident enough to do what you believe is right. Courage, bravery, fortitude, will, and intrepidity, is the ability to confront fear, pain, risk/danger, uncertainty or intimidation. Determination- Believing in yourself to continue to do the best you can even if things are difficult. Making or arriving at a decision with purpose. Inspiration-Finding something that gives you ideas to complete a task or do something special. Equality- Everyone can be equal and receive the same treatment. This is the quality of being the same in quantity or measure, value or status. Ensuring fairness, equal treatment, opportunities, regardless of religion or race.
