Fruit Fly The crackdown on the Queensland fruit fly moves to Auckland's Eden Park. Dozens of workers were out to make sure the unwelcome visitor wasn’t part of the Cricket World Cup clash between New Zealand and Australia and didn’t take flight from the venue.

A total of eight Queensland fruit flies, plus larvae and one pupa, were found in the suburb of Grey Lynn. But the Ministry for Primary Industries says it remains confident it's dealing with a localised population of fruit fly that can be eradicated. It's keeping up efforts to stop the flies spreading any further. A total of 58 staff - two shifts of 29 staff - were joining security staff at Eden Park for the game to remind cricket fans not to take fruit and vegetables outside the controlled area. MPI staff and Auckland Council workers were also involved. The horticulture industries also called on cricket fans not to take any fruit to the game. MPI removed 10.5 tonnes of waste from the ground afterwards under a detailed plan to minimise the risk

Accessibility to cricket grounds To get to Eden Park in Auckland they have arranged buses and trains so that you can use your pre purchased ticket to get a free ride to Eden Park to watch the game. There is also ferries running in Auckland however these are at the normal cost rate. The free bus ticket applies from 2 hours prior to the ICC cricket world cup 2015 match.
