Having a job has many benefits for a teenager. Employment teaches responsibility and accountability, and also allows teenagers to earn money. Because their ability to work is often limited by school obligations, teens are generally happier in low-pressure, part-time jobs that offer flexible scheduling. Most communities offer a variety of job options that will interest teens of all different personality types.

What jobs can you do? Take a look! Although technically, teens are allowed to do different jobs, most places do not typically employ youth until they are at least 16 years old. Here are some exceptions: When you are 13 and under, you can work as -a babysitter -an actor or performer in motion pictures, television, theater or radio -work on a farm or in a business owned by your parents When you are 14, you can work in -an office -grocery/retail store -restaurant -movie / theatre -amusement park -gasoline station When you turn 16, you can work in any job or occupation that has not been declared hazardous by the Secretary of Labor. When you turn 18, you can work any job or any number of hours. The child labor rules no longer apply to you!
