1. How did Winnie speak up for the Tucks when the constable accused the Tucks of kidnapping? She said that she went with them because they were her friends.

2. How did Winnie try to comfort Tuck? She told him that everything would be alright.

3. What offer did the yellow suit man make the Tucks? They could show the effects of the spring water and he would pay them for it.

4. Why was it surprising to the constable that the Fosters “sold” the land? He said that the Fosters were very proud of their land and he was amazed that they would sell it.

5. What does the term petulance mean? an irritable or angry feeling

14. How did the man know he was getting close to the Tucks? He heard the same tune coming from the wood that his grandmother had taught him.

15. Why didn’t Tuck want anyone to know about the spring? Everyone would come running to get a drink and they would not realize the consequences of drinking the water until it was too late.
