VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARDS OPERATORS MUST PERFORM BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER OPERATION CHECKS TO PREVENT THE IMPROPER FUCTIONING OF THE FOLLOWING AREAS: Warning signals Restraint systems Side and rearview mirrors All other safety features Steering Lights Windshield wipers Horns

Vehicles are NMC until repaired if they have the following faults: cracked wheel hubs worn or frayed tie down straps or personnel restraint systems torn sheet metal with exposed edges damaged or missing exhaust pipe shields leaks from exhaust systems defective, inoperative, or out of adjustment service or parking brakes any gasoline leak a class III diesel, oil or water leak tires excessively worn or deeply cut exposed cords

5988-E Prior to dispatch, operators and supervisors must ensure that none of these apply: loads improperly secured vehicle loaded beyond designed load limits unsafe transportation of personnel
