Direct Instruction Meera Mehtaji

Direct Instruction The teacher explains the main concept. Then the teacher guides the students through a problem. The problem is broken down into simple steps. The students practice. Finally the students work on the problems on their own.

Addition Word Problems Students solved simple addition problems. Teacher introduced the students to words that indicate “add” in a word problem. Teacher demonstrates how to solve a word problem. Students practice with teachers help. Students solve them independently.

Reflection Lesson was successful. Majority of the students reached their goal. Content was sequentially organized. Individualized attention. Maybe giving C a few minutes break before task would have helped him focus better.
