Speaking- Choose and Give Reasons CELDT Preparation Speaking- Choose and Give Reasons Objective: to practice speaking skills for the choose and give reasons section of the CELDT Test.

Choose and Give Reasons This sections tests your how you can make a choice and support it with reasons. There is no one right answer for your choices and reasons. You will be scored based your ability to choose, ability to give reasons and ability of correctness.

Scoring Rubric 0 Score Student fails to make a choice or does not support the choice with appropriate reasons. Student makes no response. Student responds entirely in another language.

Scoring Rubric 1 Score Students make a choice, supporting the choice with at least one appropriate reason. Student makes significant errors in grammar, vocabulary and/or pronunciation, which interfere with communication.

Scoring Rubric 2 Score Student make a choice, supporting it with at least two appropriate reasons. Student responds with minor grammatical, vocabulary, and/or pronunciation errors, but they are not significant enough to affect communication.

Practice Your teacher will ask you questions. You will answer and give two reasons using a complete sentence. Use the sentence frame to help you. First, take turns telling your partner your answer. Then, when your teacher calls on you, tell he or she your answer.
