1.Purchasing 2.Receiving 3.Warehouse Activities 4.Production Training Outline – Day 2 Areas of Concentration

Day 2 - Lesson 1 – Purchasing

You can use Microsoft Dynamics NAV for many common processes and information needs related to managing purchases, such as quote, order, and return processing. There are also tools to plan and manage different types of vendor information and transaction data. Before you can start to manage purchases, you must configure your company's purchasing policies and values, initially to set up general purchases, and periodically to create master data for vendor records. When configuration tasks are complete, you can use various vendor management and purchasing functionality for central processes, such as to purchase goods. Overview of Purchasing

Day 2 - Lesson 2 – Receiving

The physical handling of items received at the company warehouses can be managed and recorded in different ways, depending on the level of warehouse management features in the installation. For example, the warehouse of small manufacturing companies may require simple functionality, while busy distribution warehouses for wide product selections and complex business models may require that different levels of warehouse activities be performed in a directed workflow. Overview of Receiving

The simplest receiving process is one where the installation has no dedicated UI for warehouse activities, but the received quantity is entered and posted directly in the inbound order, such as a purchase. A basic warehouse installation may include the Inventory Put-Away document where warehouse workers process one order at a time and automatically post the receipt transaction when posting the inventory put-away. Overview of Receiving

In advanced warehousing installations that are set up for directed put-away and pick, different warehouse roles perform separate receiving and put-away tasks for multiple orders according to the implemented workflow. To add flexibility to advanced warehousing installations, a bin code field for continuous registration of item stock levels can be made available on inbound source document lines. Day 2 - Lesson 3 – Warehouse Activities

After goods are received and before goods are shipped, a series of internal warehouse activities take place to ensure an effective flow through the warehouse and to organize and maintain company inventories. Like the receiving and shipping processes, the detail level of warehouse activities can vary depending on the scope of the license and the locations setup. Typical warehouse activities include putting items away, moving items inside or between warehouses, and picking items for assembly, production, or shipment. Assembling items for sale or inventory is also included in warehouse activities. Overview of Warehouse Activities

Day 2 - Lesson 2 – Production

When production orders are planned and created as a part of Operations Planning, shop floor staff can proceed to fine schedule the activities, pull the required material, and output finished goods. In order to convert material into end items, a complete set of production resources must exist. Overview of Production
