Web 2.0 Tools What are these? The term "Web 2.0" (2004–present) is commonly associated with web applications that facilitate interactive information sharing, interoperability, user-centered design[1], and collaboration on the World Wide Web. Examples of Web 2.0 include web-based communities, hosted services, web applications, social-networking sites, video- sharing sites, wikis, blogs, mashups, and folksonomies.

Benefits of Using Technology with Students with Special Needs Increased engagement Easy to incorporate student creations Accessible, affordable (often free) to students Uses visuals in a natural way Using graphics and other visuals has been shown to increase student achievement by 26% (Marzano, 2009) Use to increase communication with parents and other members of the team. Celebrate and share successes! Allows for integration of knowledge and skills of students Work on social skills like turn taking, listening, peer relationships Can be used for large or small group or individualized instruction
