What is the Biology Undergraduate Research Symposium? An opportunity for undergraduate students to present the results of their independent research When and where? Saturday, May 7, 2011 UPRM Biology building

Why should I participate in the Undergraduate Research Symposium? Communicating results is a fundamental part of the scientific research process Without dissemination, a research project is not finished

Why should I participate in the Undergraduate Research Symposium? Oral communication skills are key to future success A chance to develop communication skills in front of a friendly audience Share your hard earned knowledge with your peers, friends and family

Why will I get from participating in the Undergraduate Research Symposium? Constructive feedback on your presentations Build your curriculum vitae Maybe even a prize!

What are the eligibility requirements? Student has conducted research of a biological nature as an undergraduate enrolled at UPRM Internships Other departments Now a grad student

What are the presentations like? Can be in either English or Spanish 12 minute oral PowerPoint presentations followed by 3 minutes for questions Will contain all the parts of a scientific paper: Introduction and Background Methods Results Discussion and Conclusion

What do I need to do to participate?
