THE SPEED OF LIGHT EXTRA DISTANCE TRAVELED/ EXTRA TIME TRAVELED SPEED = KM/S IN A VACUUM

WHAT IS LIGHT ? ENERGY THAT TRAVLES WITHIN ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVES WITHIN A CERTAIN RANGE OF FREQUENCIES

WHERE LIGHT COMES FROM LIGHT IS PRODUCED BY VIBRATING ELECTRIC CHARGES IN ATOMS.

LIGHT PASSES THROUGH MATERIALS WHOSE ATOMS ABSORB ENERGY AND IMMEDIATELY REEMIT IT AS LIGHT GLASS AND WATER ARE TRANSPARENT TO LIGHT

Light waves are transverse, so they can be polarized (with vibratons all in the same direction).

Most light is unpolarized The waveforms and electric force field on a given ray keep jumping around in orientation while always perpendicur to the ray

COLOR BLACK IS THE ABSENCE OF LIGHT; OBJECTS THAT APPEAR BLACK ABSORB ALL VISIBLE FREQUENCIES. THE COLOR OF AN OBJECT IS DUE TO THE COLOR OF THE LIGHT IT REFEFLECTS (IF OPAQUE) OR TRANSMITS (IF TRANSPARENT). – LIGHT IS ABSORBED WHEN ITS FREQUENCY MATCHES A NATURAL VIBRATON FREQUENCY OF ELECTRON IN THE MATERIAL ILLUMINATED BY LIGHT.

COLOR MIXING IN ADDITION IS MIXING OF LIGHT IN DIFFERNT FREQUENCIES. – THE EYE SEES A COMVINATION OF RED, GREEN, AND BLUE LIGHT OF EQUAL BRIGHTNESS AS WHITE. – RED, GREEN, AND BLUE ARE THE ADDITIVE PRIMARY COLORS.

COLOR MIXING BY SUBTRACTION IS THE MIXING OF COLORED PAINTS OR DYES, WHICH ABSORB MOST FREQUENCIES EXCEPT FOR THE ONES THAT GIVE THEM THEIR CHARACTERISTIC COLOR. – WHEN PAINTS OR DYES ARE MIXED, THE MIXTURE ABSOBS ALL THE FREQUENCIES EACH PAINT OR DYE ABSORBS. – MAGENTA, CYAN AND YELLOW ARE THE SUBTRACTIVE PRIMARY COLORS.

Scattering of violet and blue frequencies of sunlight inall directions is what gives the sky its blue color. When sunlight travels a long path through the atmospere, as at dawn or sunset, on the lower frequencies of light are transmitted; the higher ones are scattered out.

When light passes through a prism, it separates into a spectrum of all the colors of the rainbow. REFLECTiON – Most materials absorb light of some frequencies and reflect the resrt.
