f May 7, CD All-Hands meeting CD Headcount We are getting more efficient and doing (much) more with fewer people Now we are hiring again Metrics are important to let us know how we are doing and how it is changing over time different metrics for different activities getting the right metrics is hard

f May 7, CD All-Hands meeting Many recent reviews at the lab We are doing well in all of them –The lab was praised for the way it has responded to getting performance of the Accelerator improved and improving Recent Lehman Tevatron Operations Review –CD did very well –Many people did a lot of work. Thanks to them all –Some lasting posters and web pages as a result

f May 7, CD All-Hands meeting Many successes to be proud of  25 papers submitted to CHEP  And this doesn’t even include DAQ and Trigger areas

f May 7, CD All-Hands meeting A broad program and limited resources Question - So how are we going to move forward with all of this work and all these many scientific programs on our plate? Answer – By building on our successes, by helping experiments to align their systems and software more closely with each other where that is reasonable and feasible and by working even more with people outside CD and outside of Fermilab.

f May 7, CD All-Hands meeting Collaboration and Cooperation Collaboration and cooperation are the key words. –At Fermilab shared Grid-enabled facilities for all experiments –Open Science Grid in the US - part of worldwide Grid efforts and LHC Grid –Shared load worldwide for support, development of applications We have a lot to offer and a lot to be proud of. –We have submitted more than 35 abstracts about our work and achievements in the past year and a half to CHEP – the Computing in High Energy Physics Conference.

f May 7, CD All-Hands meeting Performance Appraisals Much feedback in many forums Lab services working on a report and some recommendations to the directorate We hope for and expect some changes in the process – number and type unknown at present

f May 7, CD All-Hands meeting Rest of the Program Bob Tschirhart, Deputy Head Ruth Pordes, Associate Head Steve Wolbers, Associate Head Gerry Bellendir, Associate Head Questions Cake
