Hurricanes A hurricane is a tropical storm with winds that have reached a constant speed of 74 miles per hour or more. When a hurricane approaches, the sky gets dark, and the winds are extremely high! Hurricanes can last for months! These are not something that we can prevent. It is natural. Floods… Floods are common in the United States. A flood happens when there is too much water in a given amount of space. This is usually because of lots and lots of rain or storms in an area.
