R IGOBERTA M ENCHU “A woman with good character” By: Meyling Chavarria

HER LIFE PART 1 She was born on January 9, 1959, in the village of Chimel, Guatemala. Her father were member of of the guerrilla movement Guerrilla Army of the Poor. Her mother was a mind wife and traditional healer.

P ART 2 In 1992 Rigoberta became the first indigenous person in win the novel prize by her political and social labour in Guatemala. In 1998 Rigoberta won the prize of price of Austrias award.

P ART 3 She get involved because as childhood she met injustice, discrimination and how the people hurt the them (indigenous) very badly to which the natives were subjected in Guatemala, living in extreme poverty.

PART 3 Other actions that she did, she wrote books talking about her life and what she did and how she felt when she was in trouble.

P ART 4 she care about it because she had many problems in her life and maybe she does not want anyone to feel the problems that she used to receive.

H ER ISSUE / PROBLEM PART 1 She dedicated her life to defend the rights and values of the indigenous people during and after the Guatemalan War (1960–1996) the abuses and atrocities (bad things) to which the indigenous people were subjected by all the people more by the police.

P ART 2 I think this problem hurt the government which they get angry and her family were tortured and killed by the military or the police of “death squads”.

P ART 3 I think this issue is important because she is trying to all the people are treated with the same equally without discrimination or insults.

H ER V IRTUES PART 1 I think that she is diligence because she cares about the indigenous people and she wanted to all the people get treat with the same equality. I think she is generosity because she spent her time to care about the issue, learn and help them to get a better life.

PART 2 I think that other moral decision that she shows a good character is brave and hopeful because she made a lot of people believe in her when she talks about what she will made( how she is going to help for solve the problem) and what she thinks when there is a problem.
