Background  KM is emerging as a powerful engine in education, but current KM software lack the important functionality of providing access to right knowledge at right time.  Knowledge Management, combined with search engine technologies could provide adaptivity towards the content.

KM in web-based learning  The objective is to generate value from intelligent capital to enable faster and efficient learning.  It is about getting the right knowledge to the right person at the right time.

Benefits of KM in web-based learning  Provide right kind of information in right amount at right time to prevent overloading of information to learners that can results in the cognitive overload for the learners.  Achieving reusability and authenticity.

On-line KM Search Engine  A new type of search engine that fetches information from local database and Internet search engine databases, on the basis of contextual queries.

On-line KM Search Engine -- Framework Query Preferences Source Selection & Query modification Application Database Google Database Page Retriever & Page Analyser Ordering Policy Category 1: Explicit Knowledge Output Knowledge Results Category 3: Knowledge Links Category 2: Tacit Knowledge Input Knowledge Requests

Future Work Knowledge management combined with search engine technologies can provide adaptive delivery of domain content in the web-based learning. It can save the precious time for both teachers and students through immediate retrieval of information within certain context.
