SALA+ Annual Review Meeting 2009 Brussels, 15 June 2009 SALA+ Annual Review Meeting 2009 Copyright 2009 SCOPE of SALA+ WP 4 To formulate a Strategic Research Agenda (SRA) for cooperation in the networked media field –For each Latin American country addressed by SALA+ (Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Panama and Uruguay). –Inspired on the European research programmes analyzed in WP2 (FP7 ICT, R&D programmes of UK, Spain, Germany and France, Eureka/Celtic purple book and NEM SRA). To produce an EU-LatAm harmonized SRA –To harmonize European and Latin America SRAs and R&D programmes on priorities, objectives, expected output, impact, etc. –To make easier the future cooperation between European and Latin American partners.

SALA3D: –Support Action (SA). –Foster the cooperation among European researchers and Colombian and Uruguayan researchers. –Content-aware networks, network-aware applications and 3D Media Internet research technologies. –Alignment of research priorities. SALA3D at a glance SALA3D builds on top of success of SALA+. SALA3D provides support to the implementation of the FP7 work programme through international cooperation focused on Latin American countries

Why Colombia and Uruguay? –Strong interest detected from Colombia and Uruguay to further strength the cooperation with Europe in some specific networked media technologies. –High activity in the NEM sector. –Many cooperation opportunities for Europe. –Extraordinary commitment on technologies associated to networked media field. Example: Adoption DVB standards –Platforms for further extension of cooperation with other countries: Panama, ….. SALA3D: Background

SALA3D: Research Technologies

SALA3D objective is encouraging the collaboration between European researchers and the Colombian and Uruguayan researchers in the field of Content Aware Networks, Network Aware Applications and 3D Media Internet. –Research roadmap for EU cooperation with Colombia and with Uruguay. –Study of the socio-economic context in relation to research potential. –Adaptation of the research roadmap to stimulate the economic development of activities related to the research areas being addressed by SALA3D in Colombia and Uruguay. –Networking with key stakeholders from Colombia and Uruguay. –Dissemination activities in Colombia and Uruguay SALA3D: Objectives

Develop roadmaps particularized for Colombia and Uruguay, which will attempt to influence the Colombian and Uruguayan R&D Programmes as to include research themes of interest for European researchers. SALA3D will help European researchers to identify key research priorities from Colombia and Uruguay, which are of mutual interest. SALA3D: Expected Outcome
