Divemaster Qualifications

Objectives You will be able to describe 4 qualifications of an Active-status NAUI divemaster. You will be able to identify one activity an active-status NAUI divemaster is not certified to perform.

Qualifications Activities for certified divers Qualified to organize and conduct activities for certified divers so long as –Diving activities approximate those in which the dive master is trained –The locale approximates that in which the divemaster is rained Additional training is required for the divemaster who wishes to organize and conduct highly specialized activities.

Qualifications NAUI Recognition Programs Qualified to organize and conduct NAUI Recognition programs. Qualified to award appropriate recognition materials to participants. Participation programs only –Documents experience Examples –NAUI International Diver

Qualifications Assisting with classes An active-status NAUI divemaster is qualified to assist an active-status NAUI Instructor in diving courses.

Qualifications NAUI Instructor Training Course (ITC) If all other prerequisites are met, an active- status NAUI divemaster is qualified to enter a NAUI ITC. –NAUI Instructor Preparatory program is recommended –NAUI Assistant Instructor (AI) Certification is recommended.

Summary As an active-status NAUI divemaster you are qualified to work with certified divers in a variety of settings and activities. You are also qualified to attend a NAUI ITC. However, while you are qualified to work with an instructor in an instructional setting, you are not qualified to work with non-certified divers unless under the supervision of an active instructor.

Not Qualified to Perform An active-status NAUI Divemaster is not certified to conduct diving activities for non certified divers.
