Monthly Achiever

Happy Spring! As the winter begins to give way to spring and the flowers begin to bloom, we must remember that we can be that ray of sunshine to others all year long! As the semester continues, keep up the good work of giving back to others. Our National Convention at the University of Central Missouri April 5-7, 2012 will be a wonderful place to learn of new ideas to service your community!

 College of the Ozarks- They participated in Adopt- a-Highway and plan to assist at their school’s agricultural awards ceremony in April.  Sam Houston State University- SHSU worked at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, initiated 22 new members, and made plans for a guest speaker.  Tennessee Tech University- TTU initiated 15 new members and finalized plans for a guest speaker. They also planned a bake sale and to assist at a benefit breakfast for the American Cancer Society. Their participation in Relay for Life was also discussed.

 She is a senior at Tennessee Tech University majoring in Agribusiness  She is an officer in collegiate FFA, Lambda Alpha Sigma, Ag Council, and DTA and is a member of the Agribusiness club  Becca also works childcare at a local church Interesting things you might like to know about your National President, Ms. Becca Hardin

 Ms. Hardin enjoys hiking and other outdoor recreational activities, as well as baking and decorating cakes  After graduation, she will be taking an internship at Walt Disney World teaching children about animals and how to care for the environment  She would like to find a career in which she can spread awareness about the importance of agriculture

 National DTA Convention is coming up soon, April 5-7 at Central Missouri State University!  We will be touring Bayer Facilities, the High Tunnel, and a farm where research is being conducted on aquatic and avian life.  Ag Olympics and a social are being held for our enjoyment as well!  Dress for the business sessions will be business casual but be sure to bring clothes to wear during the Ag Olympics and tours.  It will be a great opportunity to meet with other DTA members and get community service ideas from other chapters across the nation!  We hope to see you there!
