The Big Question  In your group, identify 5 potential questions you may be asked about Wuthering Heights. 1.Explore the importance of education and the way it is presented... 2.Compare and contrast the way men & women are presented... 3.Explore the way relationships between men & women are presented... 4.Explore the way accent and dialect are used… 5.Explore the theme of corruption in the texts. Look at where it is present & how it can affect the way in which people behave. 6.Explore the how the themes of power and status are portrayed and their influence on people... 7.How are the concepts of good and evil presented...? 8.Explore the role of wealth and its influence… 9.Explore the role of society and its influence… 10.Explain the role of faith… 11.How important is the idea of revenge…? 12.How do writers use different settings…?

Little Questions  Pick one of your questions and write it in the middle of the blank paper.  Individually, produce 3 questions that you will need to answer in order to tackle the big question. Write each on lines on the mind map.  Now pass it on.  You must now add 3 more questions. These may form a new branch OR a sub-branch of an earlier question.

Development:  Now add branches for your wider reading texts  Draw lines connecting wider reading to WH  Now add relevant quotes from each text  Number the branches so they are in a logical order.  Write the opening paragraph of the essay  Present your essay plan to the class!  What strategies have we learnt?

Revision: What are you going to do this week?  Practice timed WH essays  Prepare / review mind-maps  Make comparison tables  Research / revise context & make comparisons  Create essay plans (Big Qs/Little Qs)  Memorise quotes (test each other)  Practice timed unseen essays  Practice CQA/PEE (use your quotes!)  Take time out (max. ½ hour at a time)  Sleep & eat well
