What type of persons help with the abortion? Percent distribution of the last abortion during the 5 years preceding the survey

Urban women (89%) and women with some education (86%) are more likely to be helped by a medical practitioner than rural women (80%) or those with no education (69%).

Main findings Abortion, although legal since 1997, still remains marginally used in Cambodia. Three-quarters of abortions occur 2-4 months after conception. Dilatation and curettage as well as aspiration are the two most common procedures. Slightly over 2 in 5 abortions take place in a private health facility. Most abortions occur with the help of a medical practitioner.
