New Vocabulary: Homeostasis- The maintenance of a stable internal environment. Homeostasis- The maintenance of a stable internal environment. Stress- Reaction of your body to challenging, threatening or disturbing events. Stress- Reaction of your body to challenging, threatening or disturbing events.

Tissue: A tissue is composed of specialized cells that perform a function in the body. The human body has four major types of tissues: CONNECTIVE TISSUE Connects and supports parts of your body. EPITHELIAL TISSUE Covers and protects the surfaces of your body & lines the internal organs. Example: skin cells NERVOUS TISSUE Sends electrical signals through the body which enables you to think, hear and see. Example: brain cells MUSCLE TISSUE Made of cells that can contract and relax to produce movement. Also protects internal organs.
