QUIT MAIN MENU SKIP INTRO Secondary sources are resources that summarize the law and provide commentary on the law. They provide references to primary and mandatory authority. Secondary sources are not the law itself What is a secondary source? SITE MAP

QUIT MAIN MENU SKIP INTRO Why begin your research with secondary sources? We use secondary sources to gain an overview of an issue or area of law and to discern vocabulary, abbreviations, terms of art and acronyms to aid in our research. Secondary sources are also an excellent way to locate citations to both primary authority and additional secondary sources and to help determine whether your issue is covered by state or federal law (or both). Most important of all in this economy, secondary sources save time and money. He forgot to use secondary sources. SITE MAP

It is organized alphabetically by topic. CJS contains numerous footnotes to primary materials and references to secondary resources. Strong's North Carolina Index is an extremely valuable research tool because of the footnotes and annotations to relevant statutes, case law, and other secondary materials.
