Inclusion Counseling - Focus on Children’s Communities

National Unit for Improving Inclusion Initiated in August National funded through 2015 (€8 million in total) The objective: Supporting improved inclusion in pre- school, school and leisure time facilities and ensuring that the transition is professionally justifiable on the basis of research-based knowledge and skills of preschool educators and teachers. 1 Head of Office and 12 outgoing consultants from 15th of January 2013 Page 2

Page 5 Partnerships and support Partnerships with 20 municipalities: Demand-driven support - what do municipalities need support for? A 3-year partnership perspective All municipalities are invited to apply for partnerships The National Support for other municipalities based on questionnaires, surveys and focus group interviews: – Networking, – Conferences, – Seminars, – Website

Examples of partnership focus Implementation of policy or strategic goals – the municipalities have a policy, but how do they make the change Coherence of interventions across administrations, between preschool, school and leisure time facilities and between the specialized and general area Qualify the skills of pre-school educators and teachers, in order to provide the framework for inclusive education Ensure ownership throughout the organization – teachers, educators and parents must support inclusion Monitoring and evaluation of interventions Page 8
