6 th Grade Social Studies Final Ms. Stickel HOW TO USE YOUR NOTEBOOK AS A STUDY TOOL

WHAT’S ON THE TEST Labeling a World Map – 7 Questions Fill in the Blank – 7 Questions Matching – 7 Questions Multiple Choice – 10 Questions True/False – 6 Questions Short Answer – 3 Questions 2 BONUS QUESTIONS, THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON YOU SHOULD NOT DO THE BONUS QUESTIONS!

SHORT ANSWER QUESTIONS #7 #36 #41 PRACTICE WRITING 3-5 SENTENCES TO ANSWER THE QUESTIONS SO YOU WILL BE READY ON THE DAY OF THE FINAL

STEP ONE: MARK YOUR NOTEBOOK BY UNIT Make it quick and easy to flip to each section in your notebook Use post-it notes to identify the Table of Contents for each unit If you don’t have post-its, you can fold the page over, use a paper clip, etc.

STEP TWO: USE THE CORNELL WAY TO REVIEW Do ONE UNIT at a time Choose a brightly colored pen or highlighter that you haven’t already used Go through each question from your Study Guide and find it in your notebook Circle, highlight, and asterisk things that will be on the test! Check off questions from your study guide as you answer them

STEP THREE: MARK OFF SPECIFIC ASSIGNMENTS YOU’LL USE DURING THE TEST Make marks on the Table of Contents to show which assignments you’ll need to review during the test Or, use sticky arrows or more post-its to mark individual pages This will enable you to quickly flip to pages that have the answers you need

STEP FOUR: REPEAT THIS PROCESS THROUGHOUT YOUR NOTEBOOK If you can’t find the answer to a question in your notebook, use your textbook to look it up Write the answer or information for your question on whatever page feels most comfortable (on your Table of Contents page? In the back of your notebook?)
