ThinDesk, Inc.

What is Thin Computing?  IT Industry is buzzing about Green IT, Virtualization both in the Data Centre and on the Desktop, Public / Private Cloud Computing, etc.  The ThinDesk / TELUS solution provides all of this and is a Fully Managed Thin Client Desktop and Server Based Computing Service hosted inside a TELUS SAS 70 Data Centre  100% Scalable  Utility Model – Priced on a per user / per month basis (opex vs capex)  Provide Enterprise Class Service to SMB - 5 to 1000 users

Green “Thin” Computing is Good Business  Thin client desktop and laptops use 1/10 th the energy of a typical PC.  Thin clients have twice the lifecycle and are ¼ of the size of a PC, so Businesses have a less frequent hardware refresh, therefore producing less waste into landfills.  Customers do not have onsite servers which further reduce their carbon footprint.  Moving to ThinDesk also involves 100% virtualization of back- end servers. Consolidation ratios of 10 to 1. Gartner named Green IT a top strategic technology for 2008 as companies are looking to improve energy efficiency and reduce their environmental impact

Apples to Apples  Typical PC’s have Power supplies of watts...If left on 24 hours a day would use 180kw-288 kw of power per month.  Typical Thin Client devices range in power consumption from watts or 36kw -47 kw per month.  This is a power savings of 73-88% power savings  These savings do not include the cost of a energy consumption of a company’s servers, server room cooling, battery backups networking equipment and space air conditioning.

PC vs. Thin Client 90 percent less energy used each year 131,810 fewer Kw/H used each year $11,784 (U.S.) saved in energy costs per-year 102 fewer tons of CO2 put into the environment each year 27 fewer tons of e-waste after six years of use Substantially less air conditioning needed Less "noise" pollution in user areas

PC vs. Thin Client 1 PC vs. 1 Thin Client (running 8 hours a day only)  kw kw per year 40 PC vs. 40 TC  kw kw per year 100 PC vs. 100 TC  kw kw per year (Annual savings of 13,181 kw)
