 The workers started the construction on Notre Dame in 1163  From 1163 to 2013 it is 850 years old and still standing  It took roughly 180 years to build  Notre Dame was finally completed in 1345

 The architect for Notre Dame was Maurice de Sully  He was a bishop of Paris  His task was to create a building that was in a gothic style

 Notre Dame was built to honor the Virgin Mary  They built Notre Dame so it could be a church to people can go to.  Also, Notre means our and Dame means lady

 The first stone of Notre Dame was blessed in 1163 by Pope Alexander the third  In the front of the building there are 28 statues that represent the monarchs of Judea and Israel  In 1991, people started a 10 years renovation process, because the cathedral is so old that some of the pressure points are going to be supported by some scaffolds

 Notre Dame is such a landmark in Paris that it was decided that all distances would be measured from Notre Dame  There was a story of how Notre Dame was almost burnt down because a group of chairs was set on fire  If you want to get to one of the towers of Notre Dame you would have to climb 387 steps

 The one and only Notre Dame is located in the one and only Paris, France  Notre Dame is also located in the middle of Paris  Finally, Notre Dame is located in “city island” in Paris

NNotre Dame is built in a gothic style IIt is also built as a cathedral with a beautiful interior with a huge stain glass piece when you first walk in. OOne of the stain glasses is called the rose window, it is the most famous of them all and it draws tourists from all around the world TThe Rose window is on the next slide

 Notre Dame is famous because of its interior; the pews provide a outstanding view of the pulpit and everything behind it  Also, the two towers that stand tall at the entrance of the building attract people too  Finally, the pure tallness attracts people even if they did not go their to look at Notre Dame
